How to Save Seeds: Peas

Why We Want to Save Seeds This article will guide you in how to save pea seeds youself. If we garden then we should strive to learn how to save our own open-pollinated seeds for future plantings. By saving our own seeds we achieve the following: We KNOW what our seed will be AND how it will produce. By saving our own seed each year, that seed will be better acclimated to OUR area, pests, and diseases and therefore be more vigorous in other words it will be stronger.  If there is a seed supply shortage or delivery disruption, seed savers should not be affected.  You can pass on specially adapted seeds to your family as a family heirloom, over time.  The obvious reason is seeds can be expensive, but saving our own SAVES countless dollars! If you’d like to learn more about what types of plants one can save seeds from, read this article .  How to Save Your Own Pea Seeds In the picture on the left, you can see the pea plants are starting to die as the seed pods mat...

All About Loop Scheduling

What is a Loop Schedule?   Loop scheduling is basically just putting the lesser subjects that you do NOT want to do every day on a rotation. You can use this for core (academic) lesser subjects such as history, health, geography, & science. You could also use a loop schedule for non-core (elective type) subjects such as art, music, literature study, physical education, poetry, life skills, foreign language, home ec, etc…   Or you can even use loop scheduling for out of the house events such as playdates, library days, park days, you name it even comic book creating or baking day! The sky is the limit. Moms: you may even choose to loop your housework . 🙂   NOTE: Do NOT list the subjects that must be or should be done every day like math.   Why Plan a Loop Schedule?   Planning a loop schedule has its advantages. The ones I consider worthy are especially beneficial to the younger years.  Planning a loop schedule keeps things fresh and entertaining ...

Who We Are

Hello and welcome to our website! Allow us to introduce ourselves, and feel free to leave a comment. We are a simple Christian family born and raised in the hills of Missouri. My husband, Buddy, and I, Shana, got married in 2003 when I was just 18 years old and are still happily married. God has blessed us with two amazing children here and one in Heaven. We diy, homeschool, cook from scratch, use herbal remedies, clean with homemade cleaners, have a small orchard started, herb garden, medicinal herb garden, perennial berry garden, can, ferment, dehydrate, water glass, and are learning to root cellar. In the past we have raised chickens, goats, a couple cattle, and meat rabbits; we hope to get back into meat rabbits. Currently, we raise chickens and honeybees. I guess I should mention our German Shepherd, Chief, and two tom cats, Joe and Max; they easily get jealous. We love sharing and teaching others, so we hope you find this site helpful, encouraging, and inspiring.
